2016 Dodge Journey Review

Two of the most popular vehicle types for the on-the-move family are the minivan and the crossover SUV. These vehicles are so popular, in fact, that some manufacturers have begun releasing vehicles that are a sort of hybrid-half minivan and half SUV.

One of the top vehicles in this crossover class is the 2016 Dodge Journey, offering incredible features and amenities in a package that won't break the bank. Here's a look at what Precision customers in Butler, Kinnelon, and Bloomingdale have in store when you pick up one of these slick crossover vehicles.

2016 Dodge Journey Overview

The 2016 Journey runs on a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in a four-speed automatic, front-wheel drive transmission. A 3.6-liter V6 is available at higher levels, which delivers 283 horsepower and features a six-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.

It's an exceptionally roomy vehicle, making it ideal for larger families, and delivers more range than similar competitors do. It features a new set of trim levels, each impressive overall.

Technology and Trim

There are five available trim levels on the 2016 Dodge Journey, making for a good set of options for the discerning consumer. These levels are the base SE, SXT, Crossroad, Crossroad Plus, and RT. Gone is the American Value package that was the 2015 entry level.

At its basic level, you get power windows and accessories, A/C, cruise control, push-button start, telescoping wheel, and AM/FM/CD player. This level of trim doesn't include Bluetooth by default, though it's available through an add-on Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth Group package. At the lower three trim levels, this package comes with a 4.3-inch touchscreen for audio, including USB and auxiliary ports. The SXT and Crossroad levels are substantially similar to the SE but include fog lamps, LED tail lights, and a few appearance upgrades.

The Crossroad Plus level is where the features really start to add up. You get an 8.3-inch infotainment screen and gain access to add-ons such as a sunroof and upgraded heated power front seats. In addition, these levels include additional safety features, such as a rearview camera and parking sensors.

Finally, the top-level R/T gets a premium appearance package and a six-speaker premium audio system that kicks out 368 watts of power. This audio system, standard with the R/T, is available as an add-on at the Crossroad Plus level.

Safety Features

Safety features for the 2016 Dodge Journey are fairly standard, gaining four stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for overall safety and top good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It features standard dual front, side, and curtain airbags; Traction and Stability Control; head restraints; and anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels. The second-row seating also offers integrated child booster seating. Parking sensors and rearview camera are optional at higher trim levels.

Ride Experience

The 2016 Dodge Journey offers plenty of room for a large family, with optional third-row seating with comfortable seating and plenty of room for cargo. It provides a reasonably quiet and smooth ride as well, minimizing bumps on the highway to allow for a serene drive.

With its price point, there's little doubt that the 2016 Dodge Journey is a great choice for a family crossover SUV, offering amenities of both a minivan and sport utility vehicle. If you live near Kinnelon, Butler, or Bloomingdale, contact Precision CJDR to schedule a test drive today!
