Are you looking for new or used cars? Butler, NJ offers a variety of Jeep Wranglers.

Jeep has some of the most devoted fans in the auto world. The automotive brand’s history is woven into the history of America and recognized around the world.  Fans’ devotion to the Jeep was rewarded when the Society of Cult Brands recognized the brand as a 2017 “cult brand” Honoree.

The American cult classic is associated with a rugged, roofless, four-wheeled-drive with vertical grilles and a pair of round headlights. Jeep traces its origin to World War II, unlike the postwar manufacturing boom of other cars. Before the expanded highway system, the Jeep Wrangler went through a transformation from rugged terrains- fit for the army to cult-status.

Auto experts have speculated an undeniable connection between the Wrangler and the Jeep CJ it replaced. Birthed when Willys Corp. won a competition to build a lightweight vehicle for use during the war, the Jeep Wrangler has since evolved from a warfare vehicle that transported soldiers and weapons around the world to a favorite of outdoorsy folk who value its off-road abilities.

Jeep Wrangler Improvements from 1944-2019

Foldable windshield, removable top, flat, slotted grille, short wheelbase and other features of Willy’s Jeep used by American forces were evident in the Civilian version which was released in 1944. Like the Willys, the civilian version was durable and practical, and most importantly, great for terrains with bad or non-existent roads.

When Jeep debuted the Wrangler in 1987, it retained the features of the CJ as a functional, daily driver.  However, the Wrangler came with some distinct modifications, with the square headlights being the most obvious.

The Willys Jeep and the Jeep CJ gained a reputation as fun, off-road vehicles, but their popularity started declining at a point since they were suitable for everyday use like driving to work. The YJ platform addressed this with a wider track and less ground clearance.

Check out the modifications that the Wrangler has navigated to become an iconic automobile among its peers:

·       1991- Jeep made another milestone when it gave the Wrangler a 4.0-liter inline six engine with 195 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. These engines were used for the Wranglers until 2006.

·       1997- The round headlights came back when Jeep updated the Wrangler on the TJ platform. Also, the leaf springs were replaced with a coil-spring suspension that improved handling and riding.

·       2002- The Wrangler finally got the semi-modern transmission-four-speed automatic transmission replaced the three-speed automatic transmission.

·        2006- Jeep canceled the TJ platform as it ceased to use AMC parts. The all-new JK platform was introduced the same year at the North American Auto Show. The improved Wrangler featured a longer wheelbase, wider track and stability control technology. It also got other modern technology features, with computer-controlled braking, engine, transmission, and lights. The 2006 JK update also came with navigation and satellite radio. Jeep also offered the four-door convertible Wrangler- the only one of its kind in production today.

·       The early 2010s-As more people used the Wrangler as daily drivers, the machine became modified to be more comfortable, and more capable of highway driving and merges. The Wrangler evolved into a technologically advanced vehicle, adding Bluetooth connectivity, USB, easier to fold soft top and automatic temperature controls. However, the iconic SUVstill retains its CJ exterior, the unique shape, seven-slot grille, and round headlights.

·       2018- Jeep introduced a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a mild hybrid e-assist. The interior was also upgraded with more exclusive material than in previous models. New features included a rearview camera, heated steering wheel, and a 5-inch touch screen infotainment system.
