2016 Ram 1500 vs. Ford F-150

2016 Ram 1500

The 2016 Ram 1500 packs a wallop at a great price point. It offers a massive 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that includes Fuel Saver technology, so not only do you get a ton of torque and power, but you get solid EPA estimated fuel efficiency as well to cut down on trips to the gas station. This truck manages to put out 395 horsepower and a whopping 410 lb-ft of torque! It also boasts 10,650 lbs of towing capacity. 

Even at the more basic level, the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 delivers great power with supreme fuel efficiency-an EPA-estimated 29 mpg, which is outstanding for a full-size pickup. It also offers a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. 

From a luxury standpoint, the Ram 1500 offers a high-end interior with tons of head and legroom and great finishing. It delivers a supremely comfortable ride and a smooth driving experience even in the worst conditions, which makes it a great everyday vehicle 
 as well as a workhorse. 

Technology features include automatic wipers and high beams, fine-tuned air suspension, keyless entry and ignition, a remote starter, and a full technology, infotainment, and navigation package.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 has long been a leader in the full-size pickup market and for good reason. After a recent major overhaul, it's back with minor feature improvements for this model year.

Engine options range from 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost to a standard 5.0-liter V6 putting out EPA-estimated mileage ranging from 22 to 25 mpg on the highway-not up to snuff when compared to the Ram 1500. This is a bit disappointing for Ford, who used aluminum to lighten the weight of their truck this year in hopes of boosting performance. 

In the end, this is what it all comes down to: When you drive a pickup, you want power, and the Ram 1500 delivers the power you want in a rugged, tough body that still manages to look sleek and sharp.

The F-150 also carries a higher price tag in general than the Ram, which can be somewhat mitigated based on the features chosen. But even still, it's another edge the 1500 has over the F-150.
