2015 Jeep Patriot Review

Jeep calls its 2015 Patriot the best priced SUV in America. A versatile SUV, the Patriot goes everywhere with style and economy. The lines of the Patriot, reminiscent of traditional Jeeps, offer a modern character of its own. The five-passenger 4x4 Patriot is Trail-Rated and capable of going just about anywhere.

The Patriot comes five models, each with different price points and options: Sport, Altitude, Latitude, High Altitude, and Limited.

With rugged good looks that feature Jeep's iconic seven-slot grille, the Patriot offers front fog lamps and adjustable roof cross rails. And power heated exterior mirrors will allow you to head out safely on frosty mornings.

The 2015 Jeep Patriot features 16-inch wheels with tires suited for both city and off-road. A tire pressure monitoring system will alert you to any issues, and a full-sized spare tire is available.

The 2015 Patriot presents a choice of leather or premium cloth upholstery depending on the model you choose. Heated front seats are also an option. A power sunroof is available for those who prefer to bring the outside in. But when you've had a bit too much sunshine, a sliding sunshade comes forward to cool the interior.

Also lighted cup holders, automatic temperature control, and an advanced sound system are available. And optional twin tailgate speakers flip down when the gate is raised to provide music for your outdoor fun.

Cargo space is abundant in the Jeep Patriot. When the 60/40 split back seat is lowered to create a flat cargo area, you may carry a vast 53.5 cubic feet of cargo volume.

Jeep's advanced Uconnect system is also available on some models of the 2015 Jeep Patriot. The built-in dashboard 6.5-inch screen allows you to manage your entertainment, track your navigation on a Garmin GPS navigation system, and enjoy hands-free phone conversations. The system also includes an audio input jack, USB port and AM/FM radio.

Besides the Patriot's obvious good looks, lots of technology and capability reside beneath the Jeep's attractive shell. The 2015 Jeep Patriot is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter 158-horsepower engine. An optional upgrade is the World Engine four-cylinder 2.4-liter engine that generates 172 horsepower. Two transmissions are offered: a five-speed manual and Jeep's CVT2 six-speed automatic.

The Patriot comes with three different drive options. Besides the standard rear-wheel option, you may choose Jeep's Freedom Drive I. This configuration offers considerable flexibility in rough terrain and slippery conditions. You'll have full-time four-wheel drive with Brake Traction Control, while Electronic Controlled Coupling (ECC) monitors slippage and transfers power to the appropriate wheels.

Freedom Drive II has the same capability as Freedom Drive I plus an Off-Road mode with Hill Descent Control. Selecting the Off-Road Group will give you maximum capability in snow, steep climbs, mud, and up to 19 inches of water.

The fully equipped Jeep Patriot proudly carries the Trail-Rated badge. To earn this prestigious award for off-road capability, the Patriot had to pass five different tests: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording.

The Jeep Patriot is built with six airbags strategically situated to provide maximum protection for you and your passengers.

Also, the Patriot is equipped with a host of other safety features, including anti-lock braking on all four wheels, Electronic Stability Control, and Brake Assist, which applies maximum braking when the system senses panic braking. The Electronic Roll Mitigation system senses when the vehicle is entering a roll mode, and the brakes adjust the wheel direction to prevent such an accident.
