Just bought a new Jeep? Want to know how to make it last for years?
Jeeps are tough and reliable, but, like any vehicle, they need proper maintenance to keep them running for the long haul. If you want to get the best longevity out of your new vehicle, Butler Jeep dealers have a few tips that can help.
· If there’s just one component of your Jeep you want to be sure to maintain, it’s the engine. To keep a Jeep engine running smoothly for years, be sure to change the oil and filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, and use Castrol GTX, Valvoline, or Kendall motor oil.
· Be sure to change the oil for your transmission after the first 10,000 miles, and every 12,000 miles from then onward.
· Be sure to change the oil for the front and rear gears every 12,000 miles.
· Drain and flush your cooling system every two years. When you’re draining and flushing, be sure to check all of your belts and hoses to make sure they’re aligned and connected properly.
· Be sure to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles. Also, make sure to maintain correct air pressure.
· To keep your Jeep looking great, always wash it with car wash soap, not dish detergent. Also avoid using window or glass cleaner on any plastic windows the Jeep may have.
Proper home care and the occasional visit to the mechanic can keep your Jeep working properly with few problems, well beyond the 100,000 mile mark.
