As hybrid technology improves, and as more auto consumers demand it, larger vehicles will come equipped with the fuel-saving innovation. Butler Chrysler consumers can expect to see more hybrid options in coming years, including a plug-in minivan.

Chrysler officials recently unveiled plans to build and sell a plug-in hybrid version of the popular Chrysler Town & Country minivan in the United States. New Jersey auto consumers can expect to see the new fuel efficient minivan in Chrysler showrooms around 2016.

The new plug-in hybrid Town & Country minivan will be the first plug-in hybrid minivan sold in the U.S. by a major automaker. The vehicle will get about 75 miles per gallon -- a much greater fuel economy than any other mini-van on the market. Hybrids use a combination of gas-generated and stored electric power to run the vehicle’s engine. The end result is a more fuel-efficient vehicle that causes less environmental damage than traditional gas-powered vehicles.

In addition to the new Town & Country, Chrysler will also sell hybrid versions of crossover SUVs in the near future.

As fuel prices continue to escalate, driven by rising demand in developing countries, speculation and increased expense of getting oil out of the ground, hybrid vehicles will offer consumers an excellent means of saving money on transportation. Hybrid vehicles also are environmentally friendly, as they burn less fuel and release fewer emissions than standard vehicles.

Chrysler’s plans to build more hybrid vehicles to show the brand’s commitment to innovation and serving its customers.
