Chrysler’s Hellcat Packs Powerful Punch

The Hellcat V-8 engine is generating lots of positive press for Chrysler. The muscular 707-hp engine has already equipped in the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger, and Chrysler execs are looking to incorporate it in other vehicles. For New Jersey drivers interested in the powerful new engine, Butler Chrysler dealers have Challengers and Chargers available for test drive.

Chrysler introduced the Hellcat, a supercharged version of its Hemi engine, for the 2015 model year. The Hellcat, named for the Grumman F6F Hellcat, boasts a number of features. The new engine has a 103.9 mm bore, same as the 6.4 L Hemi engine. The engine has a 90.9 mm stroke and has a total displacement of 6,166 cc. The new Hellcat has a 2,380- cc twin-screw IHI supercharger. The supercharger can produce boost of about 11.6 psi. The Hellcat provides a jaw-dropping 707 horsepower.

Right now the Hellcat is available only in Dodge vehicles, but there has been talk of putting the engine in other Chrysler vehicles, including the Ram truck. Not all Dodge Challengers and Chargers have the Hellcat. The engine is available only in SRT models of the vehicles.

The Hellcat is the most powerful engine ever produced by Chrysler and is currently the most powerful engine used in muscle cars.
