Chrysler officials said that a plug-in version of Chrysler’s hybrid minivan should be able to obtain gas mileage in the range of the Toyota Prius sedan hybrid.
The Chrysler Town & Country has long been Chrysler’s minivan product, being first introduced in 1990. The Town & Country is a luxury vehicle, offering many amenities and superior build quality. In addition to the many creature comforts of the Town & Country, the vehicle also has an enviable safety record.
Chrysler has been working on fuel-efficient versions of the Town & Country for some time. As early as 2008, Chrysler has produced limited numbers of electric and hybrid versions of the Town & Country. The automaker has recently received Department of Energy funding for flexible-fuel plug-in minivans. In 2012, the automaker produced a small number of the vehicles for a demonstration program.
